March Update: Brains & Move-in Kits, Oh My!

Photo features an afterschool program student holding a model of a human brain during a learning activity from OSU NEURO.

Thank You, Barrington All-Stars!
Students at Barrington Elementary recently made a whopping 48 move-in kits for families transitioning from shelter into stable housing. These kits not only provide a warm welcome for families in their new home, but also help them save their money. In addition to providing laundry baskets full of essential household items, these caring students added personal touches to each kit: handmade fleece-tie blankets and ceramic bowls (courtesy of Upper Arlington High School students), and hand-decorated "Home Sweet Home" posters. Students assembled kits during their Create & Discover Day and were even rewarded with a surprise visit from Tatum, our beloved Facility Dog, who showed her gratitude with lots of tail wags.

Future Neuroscientists?
During a recent visit from the Neuroscience Education Urban and Rural Outreach Organization (NEURO), run through the Neuroscience Graduate Student Organization at The Ohio State University, our Afterschool Achievers got up close and personal with biology. These future scientists learned all about the human brain through hands-on demonstrations and experimentation. Way to go, Achievers!
